Welcome and Away We Go!

Welcome to my new blog for our new life in Colorado.

We have begun the process of packing, cleaning, and searching for a home. We plan on being moved when the kids finish school.

My husband has been offered a job with all the trimmings.

I may even be able to find a way of using my Interior Decorating there, as Michigan is so economically challenged at the moment that I can not seem to get even a consulting gig here.

So........here we go!

My two goats...

I have two goats that I am looking to find a home for (ay have found, but unsure, they are getting back to me).
The mom is Nanny a Togenburg X Fainter mix and her daughter (from first kidding, had only one) Lil'Missy a Togenburg x Fainter (mother) X Fainter (father was full blooded) mix. She is half the size of her mother who is smaller then a regular Togenburg.
Lil'Missy just gave birth (first kidding, baby didn't make it. But she has been stripped of her plug and colostreum).
Nanny I believe is also pregnant but she does not look big enough to have more then 2, might just be 1 again. She has slack on her ligaments, so she is getting close if she is (I say if because I could be reading it wrong and she has had one before so they may just be slightly stretched from last time.)

They are small enough to be pets but Lil'Missy is shy and will not leave Nanny. Nanny too does not like being separated from Lil'Missy. They can be kept in 1 stall as because they are smaller then the normal size goats and eat roughly a flack a day of hay. I do give them cracked corn as well (only a little during spring, summer, and fall), but during winter they get more to help fatten them for the cold and sustain there weight. Do not look for it to replace your hay or rations, but it can sustain them if your short or sever weather keeps you from getting their normal rations/hay. I try to add other stuff in with it if that happens like, oatmeal oats, wheaties, all bran flakes or buds, what ever I can find to help if sever weather keeps us in for a bit until we can get to town. (I know this may not be the greatest option but they have not had any problems and are find). As they are small they do not need a lot so it helps when situations like that arise.

I wish I could bring them with me, but it would be to hard on them to move. Specially if I am right and Nanny is pregnant and kids any day, that would be a lot for them to deal with in 2 months or so. I just hope that this person that I am waiting on to get back to me, says yes. I trust her and I know her place and kids. They will take good care of them and love watching Nanny give birth. She also lives just down the road from me, so Nanny would not have to be move more then a mile if she is. Cross figures for me that she says yes. :)
Nanny after she had Lil'Missy

Billy (Full Blooded Fainter) Lil'Missy's Dad. Died this winter. Photo taken shortly after Lil'Missy was born.
Lil'Missy several days old. She was unexpected. I walked out to feed the animals and I looked down and said "That's not a chicken!"...lol So I made this shelter out of hay. Mom (Nanny) would not leave Billy. Had them separated but she kept finding was out of her pen to his. So had to build a divider in the pen but until then, a tarp and round half a hay bale worked. :)

Lil'Missy is half her Mom's size now. :)

My chickens are spoken for, Yeah.
They will be going to someone who lets them live as long as their life lets them (die from natural causes), she keeps them for the eggs. :)

Sore Eyes......

My eyes feel like they are going to explode from looking at real estate listings for over a weeks straight.

This is going to drive me nuts yet. :P

The 2 older kids have already done some packing and tossed garbage from their rooms yet I can not seem to motivate my youngest into doing the same. I do not blame him though as he will be moving from his friends and I think it is hitting him now that this is for real. I think that he thinks he doesn't have to think about it, or that it is not actually happening if he ignores it.

He understands why we are moving but that doesn't mean he has to like it and I wouldn't ask him to.

We settled here so that they could make friends and stop bouncing around, but the Michigan economy is just not helping us stay here unfortunately.

Hopefully he will start soon.

Here we Go!

Welcome to my new blog for our new life in Colorado.

We have begun the process of packing, cleaning, and searching for a home. We plan on being moved when kids finish school.

My oldest son is 21. My middle child is 18 and she is graduating this year. My youngest son is 13 and will be the only one that we will be waiting on as my daughter can leave in May.

My husband has been offered a job with all the trimmings, but he will be searching all over before putting all of his eggs in one basket.
I may even be able to find a way of using my Interior Decorating there as Michigan is so economically challenged at the moment that I can not seem to get even a consulting gig here.

All we are doing is digging a hole and soon we will not be able to climb out of it. We have a change and an opportunity to make a change for the better. We don't want to look back and say "We should have done it" and now it's to late. We need to, even if it is just to prove that we are not scared of new things (changes). The hubby should not have to work until he is dead to support his family in today's economy.

So........here we go!
